What does a California maker of aluminum Christmas trees have to do with Chicago, IL? The common denominator is Paul Byron, President of Warren Industries by way of the aluminum housewares industry in Chicagoland. Of course, the Mirro Company and Aluminum Specialty Company immediately come to mind, but The Aluminum Forest has no further leading information on a possible link at this time.

The Company

Warren’s Christmas Trees, Inc. was founded in 1955 by William A. Warren, who was 73 at the time. Mr. Warren was a former ladder manufacturer and originally set out to mass-market his patented ‘Li-F-Time’ plastic tree. By 1962, however, Warren was producing aluminum trees around the clock, by the hundreds of thousands, under the name Warren Industries.
Paul Byron boasted that 90% of the production workforce were housewives.

The San Bernardino County Sun reported in 1962 that Warren was among the top 6 aluminum Christmas tree producers with distribution as far as Alaska to Venezuela.

So where are all the trees?

Warren trees are especially scarce. In their aluminum line, models in silver and a 2-tone silver/gold are known. Plastic trees seem to be the core product line at Warren. Reportedly, Warren made plastic trees in many colors, including pink and blue.

A kind eBay seller granted permission to use screenshots from an eBay listing for documentary purposes.
