Metal Trees Corp. is recognized for their Twist-N-Kurl models, but they also made a dazzling straight needle tree. The Holiday wall tree is more in-demand than ever in the collector market.

Extensive sleuthing has turned up little information on this perplexing company. Ads show that Metal Trees Corp. products were sold through Woolworth’s and TG&Y

Online sources show that Metal Trees Corp. was affiliated with Alldec and Masco, both Chicago-based manufacturing companies with separate locations. The Chicago Tribune reported in 1961 that John Terdina, controller of Alldec, was named vice-president and general manager of Alldec, Metal Trees Corporation and Masco Products, Inc. Masco is short for Material Service Corp. and is known to have manufactured caulking cartridges.

Metal Trees Corp. licensed under Reece Paul Patent #2,893,149. The MTCo. Holiday Wall Tree has a ‘Patent Pending’ notification on the box.

Hallmarks of Metal Trees Corp.

The stands are usually a tripod but smaller trees can have a round wooden disc stand.

The poles are wooden and painted silver, even for colored trees.

Twist-N-Kurl branches are just that. Two of the most sought-after MTCo models are the ‘Pink’ and the ‘Blue,’ which are both actually 2-tone trees mixed with silver. Oddly, the solid blue straight needle model by MTCo is labeled ‘Ice Blue.’

The Aluminum Forest was able to contact a living relative of John Terdina, but sadly he had no memories or information regarding Metal Trees Corp. Do you have any leading information on Metal Trees Corp or the descendants of John Terdina? The Aluminum Forest would love to hear from you!
